Am I one?
The Pharisees required people to follow rules. They expanded commandments further than originally defined. They then held people to these detailed definitions. For example, they imposed various rules about keeping the Sabbath. Throwing a rock a certain distance was considered work, which was forbidden. You could not hand someone a pie outside your house. However, handing it through a window was not considered work. They redefined commandments more than God had defined. Then, they held others to those principles.
It is well and good to have a Brotherhood that agrees on defining certain things for their walk with the Lord. However, that thing cannot become the source of salvation. Do not insist that others follow what you have decided. Make such decisions only if Jesus commanded it or passed it down through the disciples. You have no ground to stand on. None.
If you do realize issues in your church, we all tend to point fingers or indignantly ask them to be fixed while doing nothing to help—giving no love, no helping hand, no shoulder, no prayer. Let’s work together in building up the churches of God, not pointing fingers. If you directly start applying this to others, you are already pointing fingers. This is about us. Division is also a tool of Satan, and if you are causing division… I just don’t think that’s a good place to be.
We as Christians should be flexible on differences, not tolerant of sin. But we should be flexible with people practicing things differently and seeing things differently. We should always consider the possibility of us being wrong, because we are not God.
The closer you get to Jesus, the less you have hate, the less you have bitterness, the more you have Love, Peace, and Joy. Let our light shine before men.
