The Christian Trickster

I recently visited a struggling brother. His friends wanted me to bring him up to the house for a worship night. So, I went to talk to him, and I was just honest with him. We had a genuine, authentic conversation. Afterward, we went up to the house, and someone asked me how I “got” him there.

Seriously?

I replied, “I just talked to him honestly.” Then came the remark, “Well, that was sly.”

What?

When people are struggling, the last thing they need is trickery. What they need is a listening ear, honesty, and sincerity, among other things. In fact, using tricks or sly tactics will only make things way worse!

Trickery—no matter what the intended outcome—is not from God.
